Mauritania is a country defined by space, silence, and an overwhelming sense of scale. We traveled from the capital deep into the desert, reaching places like the Eye of the Sahara and remote ancient cities marked by old manuscripts. The landscapes felt endless, stripped back to sand, rock, and time. Our journey ended on the Iron Ore train, a raw 20-hour ride straight through the desert. It remains one of the most interesting countries I’ve visited, both for its beauty and its sense of adventure.
